When happy with the placement, select any other tool on the photoshop panel, and it will pop up with a box asking you to confirm that you want to crop the images. feel free to move the square if your subject/muse isn’t in the center, like mine is.ġ0. your cropping selection should now look like this. Time to crop! Most of the time, icons are in a square shape, so we want to crop them! If you go to the crop tool, and select the drop down menu (AS SHOWN BELOW) you can select the 1x1 Square option.ĩ. If you’ve done this successfully, all of your layers should now also have corresponding frames in the timeline!Ĩ. Search for the option that says ‘Make Frames from Layers’. There is a little dropdown menu in the timeline ( AS SHOWN BELOW ) that you need to click.Ħ. To eventually export all of these images as separate icons, you need to have them each in frames. I have only decided to use 14 images for the sake of saving time.ĥ. Photoshop will look like this when your images load completely. ( several hundreds of screencaps tend to take about 5 minutes to completely load for me - they’re big images lol. )Ĥ. Depending on your amount, this may take a while. If you want to add more, just hit browse again, and select what you’d like! When you are satisfied with the images in this area, you can then hit ‘OK’, and photoshop will begin to load all of your images into layers. All of the files you selected should now be listed in the space besides the ‘browse’ menu button. After you have all of your files selected, hit ‘open’, in your documents.ģ. This will open up your documents, in which you can then select all of the screencaps (or other images) you will be using to make icons out of. then go to file –> Scripts –> Load files from stack.Ģ. some screencaps or images you wish to editġ. ( up too 500 at most to respond properly without lag). Next, it’s time for uploading! Just go to where you normally upload your icon in the settings of your blog, find your APNG file you created earlier, and upload! Save it, and you are done! See how easy that was? If you do not close and reopen Chrome, it may not work. Chrome users need to download this extension if you want to be able to see your (and other peoples’) animated icon play on you dashboard. Now, if you use Firefox, you can skip the following step. If not, you won’t be able to run the software. Tip: make sure you have the latest Java running on your computer. Unpack the software, open it, load the GIF (Select Source File), and click convert! It’s that easy. How do you do that, you ask? Well it’s easy! Just download this program. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT OR ELSE IT WILL NOT WORK!Īfter you’ve made your GIF, you’re going to need to convert the GIF file into an APNG file. Choose/make the GIF you want to use and make its dimensions 64 x 64px (by cropping or resizing). If you want to make your own GIF for your icon, you’re going to need to have Photoshop or Gimp. This is a neat little trick I learned and it allows you to use a GIF as your Tumblr icon. How to have a GIF as an icon- It’s really easy.
